Surgical Skills Center

Opening July 2011

Surgical Skills Center:

State of the art surgical skills center is being developed at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital.

Center will have 9 work stations, all with pendant mounted surgical lights and monitors. Endoscopic surgery equipment at each station will complete the simulated operating room environment.
Virtual reality trainer will be made available to all trainees during workshops
In addition to the skills lab, center will have a seminar room for 40 people and a board room for 12 people. Both areas will have bidirectional audio and video connection to the operating rooms for live surgery viewing.

Building work is scheduled to start in September 2010. Center will start functioning in July 2011.

If you would like to organise medical or surgical workshops, please contact us to check the availability of the surgical skills center.

Surgical skills center will be suitable for both surgical and non-surgical workshops. Current courses planned for 2011 include basics of minimally invasive surgery, ultrasound guided vascular access training, regional anaesthetic block workshop, basic surgical skills workshop and advanced endoscopic surgery workshops using animal tissue.
